June Newsletter

June Newsletter

Summer is here, with all its special activities, vacations, etc.! Let's all determine to not let the change of pace distract us but to keep our focus on the Lord.
Father's Day
We wish all of our fathers a very HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! As we want our fathers to be able to spend some time with their families this evening, there will be no Evening Service.

Congratulations, Graduates!

June is graduation month, and we were able to honor the 32 high school graduates that are a part of Grace Baptist Church and WCA. In addition, we had two graduates who received advanced degrees: Zane Bloom received a Masters Degree in Theological Studies from Liberty University Baptist Theological Seminary, and Jessica Stone received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreational Therapy (Magna Cum Laude) from East Carolina University. Congratulations to all of our grads!
VBS Highlights
We had a fantastic week of A Mighty Fortress VBS here at Grace!  An average of 147 kids came to "the castle" each night to enjoy songs, a Bible lesson, games, snacks, and crafts. We had four kids get saved this week at VBS!

This year, the kids brought in their pennies for missionaries Jonathan, Leah, Caleb, and Charity Highfill who are going to Kynsna, South Africa. We were able to raise just over $1500 to help them in their journey to South Africa!
A huge THANK YOU!! goes out to everyone who volunteered. The time and effort you put in to this week is greatly appreciated. This event would not have been possible without you!

We are thankful for godly men here at Grace who are seeking the Lord's will for their families. Two of those men are David Lancaster (who will be pastoring a church in western NC) and Zane Bloom (who will be taking his family to minister in South Africa.) This month, both men went through the process of being ordained before they head their separate ways. On June 11th, they were officially ordained here at Grace. Congratulations to the Lancaster and Bloom families! We will miss you!
Ask Pastor Series
On May 28th during the Evening Service, Pastor Jay answered some questions that had been submitted to him. He could not answer all of the questions that were sent to him, but he will have more services of this kind in the future. If you missed the service, you may listen to it on the link below.
Listen to the Sermon
During the month of June, as a part of our yearlong emphasis on “connection,” we have been emphasizing the need to connect with our community. Scripture clearly commands local churches to be a faithful gospel witness in their “Jerusalem.” Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:1Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand.” As a church, we are called to proclaim the gospel to our community. There can be no proclamation of the gospel, however, if we fail to engage those who live in close proximity to us. Effectively preaching the gospel to others requires us to connect with individuals living in our community.

One of the ways Grace Baptist Church tries to connect with our community each year is through our Vacation Bible School ministry. Through this community connection, we are afforded ...

Online Giving

Do you give online? We are changing our current online giving platform, and so we need everyone to switch any reoccurring gifts to our new provider by July 1st. Contact the church office if you have any questions!
Teen Mission Trip
Another exciting event planned for June 20-27 is the Teen Mission trip to Green River, Wyoming. This group will be assisting our own Jeff and Julie Chappell with some projects around their growing church. At present, we have about 14 going with this team. Please pray for their safety and that the Lord will work in them and through them to be a blessing to this church.
