www.kids4truth.comIn 2008, Kids4Truth became our Wednesday night children's program here at Grace Baptist Church. Kids4Truth meets from 6:30-8:00 p.m. from September to May.We love Kids4Truth because it does a great job of equipping our children with Bible truth about our great God! Join us for an exciting time of singing together, quoting Bible verses, playing awesome games, and listening to God’s Word being clearly taught! Kids4Truth helps us accomplish our overall children’s ministry goal of being God-focused and Gospel-centered in the teaching of God's Word. Kids4Truth also provides a wonderful opportunity for parents to disciple their own children (Dt. 6:7 "teach them diligently unto thy children"; Eph. 6:4 "bring [your] children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.").Kids4Truth emphasizes the study of God using a question and answer memory program. This memory program consists of 10 questions, answers, and Bible verses for each of the following 12 doctrinal themes of Scripture:1. God’s Word – The Bible (The Bible is the only book that is God’s Word to us.)2. The Greatness of God (God is one of a kind and above all in His greatness.)3. The Goodness of God (God is loving and above all in His goodness.)4. The Trinity (There is only one God, and this one God is three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.)5. God’s Creation (God created everything out of nothing for His glory.)6. God's View of You (We are sinful and need God to forgive us.)7. God's Law (God wants me to love Him with all my heart.)8. Jesus Christ (Jesus Christ was and is all God and all man at the same time.)9. Salvation (Jesus Christ paid for our sins when He died on the cross.)10. God's Purpose for His Children (We must glorify God by becoming more like Jesus Christ in words, actions, and thoughts.)11. God's Work-Past & Present (God works in Creation to bring all plans to pass.)12. God's Plans For the Future (Jesus Christ is coming again and we must be ready.)We look forward to seeing these God-truths change the lives of our children! Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a little about Grace Baptist Church. Our passion is that our Church will do God’s work in God’s way for God’s glory. We are committed to making and maturing disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a Word-centered fellowship that focuses on people rather than on programs with a commitment to the priorities of worship, instruction, fellowship, and evangelism. By exalting the name of our Great God and using means that give the right opinion of Him, we believe that we will see His power on fresh display in all of our services. We desire to be a community of faith that is marked by God’s grace. Grace is divine provision that God offers to all in such a way that they cannot, and therefore should not, take the credit. It is absolutely necessary for salvation (Rom 5:5, Eph 2:8-9), sanctification ((Philippians 2:13), service (1 Cor 3:10), and for sacrificial giving ((2 Cor 8:1-5). As we have received the Grace of God, we desire to be a caring community of faith that extends that grace to a hurting world that is all around us (2 Cor 5:17-6:1). We want to share the amazing grace of our amazing God with the greater Wilmington area, and to spread it around the world through our missionary family. Our motto is “Grace... from the Word, to the world, for His glory.” We would love to have you come and experience the Grace of God with us as we anticipate His working in our lives each week as we worship and serve together.Serving Others For HimAlan T. Our Statement of FaithA)The Holy Scriptures. We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning, and all issues of interpretation and meaning shall be determined by the pastor. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the official translation used by the church. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)B)Dispensationalism. We believe that the Scriptures, interpreted in their natural, literal sense, reveal divinely determined dispensations or rules of life which define man’s responsibilities in successive ages. These dispensations are not ways of salvation, but rather are divinely ordered stewardships by which God directs man according to His purpose. Three of these dispensations–the law, the church, and the kingdom–are the subjects of detailed revelation in Scripture. (Gen. 1:28; 1 Cor. 9:17; 2 Cor. 3:9-18; Gal. 3:13-25; Eph. 1:10; 3:2-10; Col. 1:24-25, 27; Rev. 20:2-6)C)The Godhead. We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three Persons–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–each coeternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 14:10, 26; 2 Cor. 13:14)D)The Person and Work of Christ. 1.We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (Isa. 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil. 2:5-8)2.We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and, that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24-25; Eph. 1:7; 1 Pet. 1:3-5; 2:24)3.We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Rom. 8:34; Heb. 9:24; 1 John 2:1-2)E)The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit.1.We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14)2.We believe that He is the Divine Teacher who assists believers to understand and appropriate the Scriptures and that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit. (Eph. 1:17-18; 5:18; 1 John 2:20, 27)3.We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowal of spiritual gifts to every believer. God uniquely uses evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip believers in the assembly in order that they can do the work of the ministry. (Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-11, 28; Eph. 4:7-12)4.We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary. Speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit. Ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayers of believers for physical healing. (1 Cor. 1:22; 13:8; 14:21-22)F)The Total Depravity of Man. We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:22-23; 5:12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:17-19)G)Salvation. We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. We believe that all sins, except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, are forgivable. (Matt. 12:31-32; John 1:12; Eph.1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Pet. 1:18-19;1 John 1:9)H)The Eternal Security and Assurance of Believers.1.We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1; 38-39; 1 Cor. 1:4-8; 1 Pet. 1:4-5)2.We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh. (Rom. 13:13-14; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:11-15)I)The Church.1.We believe that the local church, which is the Body and the espoused Bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again persons. (1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27)2.We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. (Acts 14:27; 20:17, 28-32; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11)3.We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control. (Acts 13:1-4; 15:19-31; 20:28; Rom. 16:1, 4; 1 Cor. 3:9, 16; 5:4-7, 13; 1 Pet. 5:1-4)4.We recognize water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as the Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the church in this age. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 18:18; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)J)Separation. We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord. God commands His people to separate from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations, and to refrain from all immodest and immoderate appearances, piercings, and bodily markings. (Lev. 19:28; Rom. 12:1-2; 14:13; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1, 2 Tim. 3:1-5; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11)K)The Second Advent of Christ. We believe in that “blessed hope,” the personal, imminent return of Christ, Who will rapture His church prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the nation of Israel. (Ps. 89:3-4; Dan. 2:31-45; Zech. 14:4-11; 1 Thess. 1:10; 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6)L)The Eternal State.1.We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. (Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29 ; 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5-6, 12-13)2.We believe that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord. (Luke 23:43; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; 3:21; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 20:4-6)3.We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious punishment and torment until the second resurrection, when with spirit, soul and body reunited, they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment. (Matt. 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:19-26; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Rev. 20:11-15)M)The Personality of Satan. We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the cause of the Fall of Man; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; and that he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire. (Job 1:6-7; Isa. 14:12-17; Matt. 4:2-11; 25:41; Rev. 20:10)N)Creation. We believe that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution and any other theory of origin, including, but not limited to the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin. (Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11)O)Civil Government. We believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: 1) the home, 2) the church, and 3) the state. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and governed by His Word. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The home, the church, and the state are equal and sovereign in their respective biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God. (Rom. 13:1-7; Eph. 5:22-24; Heb. 13:17; 1 Pet. 2:13-14)P)Human Sexuality.1.We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. (Gen. 2:24; 19:5, 13; 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom.1:26-29; 1 Cor. 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)2.We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Gen. 2:24; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:10; Eph. 5:22-23)Q)Family Relationships.1.We believe that men and women are spiritually equal in position before God but that God has ordained distinct and separate spiritual functions for men and women in the home and the church. The husband is to be the leader of the home, and men are to be the leaders, pastors and deacons of the church. Accordingly, only men are eligible for licensure and ordination by the church. (Gal. 3:28; Col. 3:18; 1 Tim. 2:8-15; 3:4-5, 12)2.We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. The husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the church. The wife is to submit herself to the Scriptural leadership of her husband as the church submits to the headship of Christ. Children are a heritage from the Lord. Parents are responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values and leading them, through consistent lifestyle example and appropriate discipline, including Scriptural corporal correction. (Gen. 1:26-28; Ex. 20:12; Deut. 6:4-9; Ps. 127:3-5; Prov. 19:18; 22:15; 23:13-14; Mark 10:6-12; 1 Cor. 7:1-16; Eph. 5:21-33; 6:1-4; Col. 3:18-21; Heb. 13:4; 1 Pet. 3:1-7)R)Divorce and Remarriage. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of fornication. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon. (Mal. 2:14-17; Matt. 19: 3-12; Rom. 7:1-3; 1 Tim. 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6)S) Abortion. We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the mental well being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16, Ps. 51:5; 139: 14-16; Isa. 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44)T) Euthanasia. We believe that the direct taking of an innocent human life is a moral evil, regardless of the intention. Life is a gift of God and must be respected from conception until natural death. Thus we believe that an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder contrary to the will of God. Discontinuing medical procedures that are extraordinary or disproportionate to the expected outcome is a legitimate refusal of medical treatment. (Ex. 20:13; 23:7; Matt. 5:21; Acts 17:28)U)Love. We believe that we should demonstrate love for others, not only toward fellow believers, but also toward those who are not believers, those who oppose us, and those who engage in sinful actions. We are to deal with those who oppose us graciously, gently, patiently, and humbly. God forbids the stirring up of strife, the taking of revenge, or the threat or the use of violence as a means of resolving personal conflict or obtaining personal justice. Although God commands us to abhor sinful actions, we are to love and pray for any person who engages in such sinful actions. (Lev. 19:18; Matt. 5:44-48; Luke 6:31; John 13:34-35; Rom. 12:9-10, 17-21; 13: 8-10; Phil. 2:2-4; 2 Tim. 2:24-26; Titus 3:2; 1 John 3:17-18)V) Lawsuits Between Believers. We believe that church members are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against other church members or the church to resolve personal disputes. We believe the church possesses all the resources necessary to resolve personal disputes between members. We do believe, however, that a church member may seek compensation for injuries from another church member's insurance company as long as the claim is pursued without malice or slander. (1 Cor. 6:1-8; Eph. 4:31-32)W)Missions. We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us. (Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:20)X)Giving. We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God’s wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to financially support his local church. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings cheerfully and as needed to the support of the church, the relief of those in need, and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of his tithe or offering once the gift has been made. (Gen 14:20; Prov. 3:9-10; Acts 4:34-37; 1 Cor. 16:2; 2 Cor 9:6-7; Gal. 6:6; Eph. 4:28; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; 1 John 3:17)

It has been my joy to serve the Lord in the youth ministry full time since 1995. The youth here at Grace are greatly gifted and equipped for service. As we grow together I long to assist their parents in the training of their children and help their children deepen their walk with their Savior and Lord. The result of that will be servant leaders who will understand the Great Commandment practically and live out the Great Commission purposefully. To that end we meet weekly for Bible study and act regularly in creative service…we even find plenty of time for good old fun times! My passions are my God, my wife and four boys, surfing, hunting and fishing and pretty much any sport.

If you would be interested in having one of the pastoral staff contact you please visit their individual staff page and email them.If you live in Wilmington, NC, please join us this Sunday morning as we worship the Lord.Service Times:Sunday School - 9:15amSunday Worship - 10:30amSunday Night - 6:00pmWednesday Night - 6:30pm

MISSIONS PHILOSOPHYThe Lord Jesus has commanded all Christians to be a “witness” in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8) and to “teach all nations,” (Matthew 28:19-20) that is, discipleship of new converts to Christ. We are motivated by love (2 Corinthians 5:14), submission to Christ’s commands to evangelize, and faith (Romans 1:16) in God’s plan. While we see benefit in various types of mission works, our desire is for the majority of missionaries supported by Grace Baptist Church to be engaged in church planting efforts.Find the Complete Mission's Philosophy Here

Adult Sunday SchoolWe have two formats that alternate. One is the small group Bible study. This format groups adults by age and gender in order to focus on particular applications of the Scriptures and build Christian friendships. The other format is traditional classroom Bible study with a key speaker and a focused subject matter. We are currently in the small groups format which meet in the fellowship hall on Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM.Grace Bible InstituteAs we continue to pursue our church’s philosophy of making and maturing disciples for God’s glory, we are resuming our Bible institute program. This meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30PM. We meet in different classes which cover a variety of topics such as discipleship, Christian parenting, Christian worldview, sign language for church, and other specialized classes covering doctrines and other areas of interest. Listen to classes on our audio page. Watch for next semester's schedule of classes. You are invited to come and join us as we study together.

College and Career MinistryWhat a wonderful opportunity the singles have to serve our Lord. Many of our singles are very active in our church and school ministries. They have their own Sunday school class as well as several regular social activities and numerous opportunities for food and fellowship.

We call our teen ministry here at Grace, “The GYM”. It’s nothing fancy and simply stands for Grace Youth Ministries. But the meaning behind the name comes from our theme verse found in I Timothy 4:7b-8a when it says, “exercise thyself rather unto godliness, for bodily exercise profiteth little, but godliness is profitable unto all things”. The word for “exercise” here is where we get our English word, “gymnasium” or a place of training, working out or exercise. Most ministries do an exceptional job of teaching sound doctrine and must continue to do so, but few are finding creative ways to put that knowledge into daily practice. We are working at balancing a healthy diet of the rich spiritual food of the Word of God with practical, hands on ministry opportunities, because life is for service. Please don’t get us wrong we are not all work and no fun but we want our fun and those things we are passionate about to have a purpose. Why did the Lord leave us here anyway? Just to have fun? We want to teach the Word and direct passions so that God is glorified and others are blessed. Exercising ourselves towards being godly, also known as Christlikeness is a lifelong adventure. At Grace, as the young people enter the GYM we want them to learn and grow in our Sunday School and Wednesday evening Bible Studies. We have a qualified youth staff to get this task done well. But we also want the young people to get involved in service to their church and community through evangelism and outreach opportunities. If you are a teen or the parent of a teen, we would like to invite you to step into the GYM and come grow with us as we attempt to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and live out the Great Commandments (Matthew 22:34-40). We meet weekly and serve regularly and always have a good time!

We are GraceKids!......and we are striving to "Glorify God by LIVING THE GOSPEL." Philippians 1:27 states, “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ...”. We want our kids to grow up knowing the importance of living the gospel every day of their life, and we want them to know how to do that real well! Why is this so important? We believe if we are “Living the Gospel,” we can’t help but grow in our love for God and others (Lk. 10:27), and we will naturally make disciples of Jesus Christ (Mt. 28:19-20). Following the Great Commandments & fulfilling the Great Commission...what more could we want from our kids?!We “Live The Gospel” by allowing the glorious attributes of God & Jesus Christ, the Cross, and the life-changing truths of the Gospel control all we do and say. So whether it’s Sunday School every week at 9:15 a.m., or Jr. Church & Children’s Church at 10:30 a.m., or Kids4Truth on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., or KidSpirations on Sunday nights, or Kite Sunday, or Watermelon Sunday, or Summer Camps, or Fall Retreats, or Farm Days, or Christmas programs, we want to grow in knowing and loving our great God!Hosea 6:3 “Follow on to know the LORD”Jer. 9:23-24 “Let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth that I am the LORD”Prov. 9:10 “The knowledge of the holy [Holy One] is understanding”Dan. 11:32 “The people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits [take action].”God says it best in His Word: "behold the glory of the Lord, and be transformed into the same image" (2 Cor. 3:18). "See the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God." (2 Cor. 4:4)! The good news of the glorious gospel is that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross so that when we repent of our sins and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ alone as our Savior, He will save us and give us eternal life! That’s the amazing truth of the Gospel, and we want to live it every day!

The Church receives the Scriptures as the Inspired Word of God and as the sole authority in matters of faith and practice. Its understanding of Christian truth as therein contained is expressed by the following declaration of faith:We believe that the Bible is God's Word, that it was written by men divinely inspired and that it is the supreme infallible authority in all matters of faith and conduct. We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power. We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all that come to Him through Jesus Christ. We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal and only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, of virgin birth, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sins of the world by His death. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and visible, pre-millennial return to the world according to His promise. We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from God to convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement, and to regenerate, sanctify, and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that all men by nature and by choice sinners, but that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). We believe, therefore, that those who accept Christ as Lord and Savior will rejoice forever in God's presence and those who refuse to accept Christ as Lord and Savior will be forever separated from God.We believe in the church--a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and of which all regenerated people are members. We believe that a local church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ, immersed on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that to these local churches were committed, for perpetual observance, the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s supper, and that God has laid upon these churches the task of proclaiming to a lost world the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior, and the enthroning of Him as Lord and Master. We believe that all human betterment and social improvements are the inevitable by-products of such a Gospel. We believe that every human being is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and autonomous and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that, therefore, church and state must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from the dictation or patronage of the other.

Our Statement of FaithThe following comprise the Scriptural beliefs of this church and its members. The Holy Scriptures. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)The Godhead. We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three Persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 14:10, 26; 2 Cor. 13:14)The Person and Work of Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (Isa. 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil. 2:5-8)We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and, that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24-25; Eph. 1:7; 1 Pet. 1:3-5; 2:24)We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Rom. 8:34; Heb. 9:24; 1 John 2:1-2)The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14)We believe that He is the Divine Teacher who assists believers to understand and appropriate the Scriptures and that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit. (Eph. 1:17-18; 5:18; 1 John 2:20, 27)We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowal of spiritual gifts to every believer. God uniquely uses evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip believers in the assembly in order that they can do the work of the ministry. (Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-11, 28; Eph. 4:7-12)We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary. Speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit. Ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayers of believers for physical healing. (1 Cor. 1:22; 13:8; 14:21-22)The Total Depravity of Man. We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:22-23; 5:12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:17-19)Salvation. 1:18-19;1 John 1:9)The Eternal Security and Assurance of Believers. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1; 38-39; 1 Cor. 1:4-8; 1 Pet. 1:4-5)We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh. (Rom. 13:13-14; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:11-15)The Church. We believe that the local church, which is the Body and the espoused Bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again persons. (1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27)We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. (Acts 14:27; 20:17, 28-32; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11)We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control. (Acts 13:1-4; 15:19-31; 20:28; Rom. 16:1, 4; 1 Cor. 3:9, 16; 5:4-7, 13; 1 Pet. 5:1-4)We recognize water baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper as the Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the church in this age. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 18:18; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)Separation. 3:1-5; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11)Dispensationalism. We believe that the Scriptures, interpreted in their natural, literal sense, reveal divinely determined dispensations or rules of life which define man's responsibilities in successive ages. These dispensations are not ways of salvation, but rather are divinely ordered stewardships by which God directs man according to His purpose. Three of these dispensations-the law, the church, and the kingdom-are the subjects of detailed revelation in Scripture. (Gen. 1:28; 1 Cor. 9:17; 2 Cor. 3:9-18; Gal. 3:13-25; Eph. 1:10; 3:2-10; Col. 1:24-25, 27; Rev. 20:2-6)Civil Government. 2:13-14)The Second Advent of Christ. We believe in that "blessed hope", the personal, imminent return of Christ, Who will rapture His church prior to the seven-year tribulation period. 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6)The Eternal State. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. (Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29 ; 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5-6, 12-13)We believe that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord. (Luke 23:43; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; 3:21; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 20:4-6)We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious punishment and torment until the second resurrection, when with spirit, soul and body reunited, they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment. (Matt. 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:19-26; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Rev. 20:11-15)

Current Series | Expositional Look at the Book of ActsThe Book of Acts was written to provide a history of the early church. The emphasis of the book is the importance of the day of Pentecost and being empowered to be effective witnesses for Jesus Christ. Reading the book of Acts, we are enlightened and encouraged by the many miracles that were being performed during this time by the disciples Peter, John, and Paul. The book of Acts emphasizes the importance of obedience to God’s Word and the transformation that occurs as a result of knowing Christ. There are also many references to those that rejected the truth that the disciples preached about the Lord Jesus Christ.Check out the latest message here.

I'M A REGULAR

I'M NEW HERE

OUR PURPOSEGrace Baptist wants to reach a lost world with the name of Jesus Christ. We have a variety of ministries that help us reach the local community with the Gospel. From the Children's Ministry to Senior Saints, we want to see the Wilmington area saturated with the message that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the only way to have a fulfilled life.View our Philosophy of Ministry

In 1953, Pastor and Mrs. Ray Noland, being led of the Lord, by faith bought an old building on North Ninth Street. In September of that year, the Grace Baptist Church was organized with twenty-three charter members.Under the direction of Pastor Noland and Brother Henry Brown, the church started Wilmington Christian Academy in 1969. This ministry has helped us reach and train many young people for Christ. The school now has over 700 students in grades K3 through twelve.Dr. J. D. Herchenhahn came to Grace in September 1970, when he answered the call to assist Dr. Noland, and served as its pastor from August 1971 after Dr. Noland went Home to be with the Lord, until his retirement at the end of 2006. On January 7, 2007, Alan Benson became the third Senior Pastor of Grace, after serving as the Associate Pastor for one year. The Lord honored both Pastor Herchenhahn and Pastor Benson, and our church as a whole when He gave us these dear servants of the Lord. God was honored and His name was glorified through the smooth transition in leadership that happened over the course of 2006.The church now supports 109 missionaries and mission organizations both in the states and in 43 foreign countries. Local ministries include a strong bus ministry, a special class for the mentally handicapped, active youth and college and career-age departments, and a good senior-citizen ministry. We encourage all of our members to be involved in the soul-winning outreach. The church has grown consistently over the years, making building expansions and relocations necessary on several occasions. In 1959 the church moved from its original location to 608 South College Road. In 1961, a Sunday School complex was added. A new auditorium was built on to the church in 1964. School facilities were added in 1971. By 1973 it became apparent that larger facilities were needed for the church and school. Plans were made and a bond program undertaken for the million-dollar church building. In February of 1978 we moved into the present building at 1401 North College Road. The school moved in January of 1981. In 1982 a new gymnasium and classroom complex was completed. Four more rooms were added on to the elementary building in 1983. In 1998 a similar extension was annexed to the high school building, and the library was remodeled to almost triple its size. In March 2003, a much-needed spacious and beautiful Fellowship Hall was completed and ready for occupation. Our newest building, the Robertson Fine Arts Center, was built primarily by volunteer labor and was completed in 2005.We thank the Lord for His blessings on Grace Baptist Church for the past 50+ years.

Grief ShareWednesdays: 6:30pm-8:00pm Grief Share:We are getting ready to restart our grief share ministry which is for those who are hurting after the death of a spouse or family member.

I desire to see our Grace family cultivating relationships of accountability, encouragement, and outreach. I believe that each person can use things that they are passionate about to mentor others and to open up opportunities to present the gospel. I love teaching the Bible, interacting with people about the realities of living as a Christian, and coordinating discipleship relationships. Some of my goals are to be a prayerful man, a transparent man, and a faithful man. My family is very important to me. My wife and I have 5 daughters and 1 son. I enjoy spending time with people over a cup of coffee and while out on the soccer field or basketball court. My hobbies are fly fishing or any kind of fishing and hunting. Let me know how I can serve you.

Pastor Wesley Rickard has been our music pastor since July 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sacred music from Pensacola Christian College and a Master of Music degree in church music from Bob Jones University. Before coming to Grace, Pastor Wes served as Music Director at Grace Gospel Church and Grace Christian School in Huntington, WV.The opportunity to plan and lead worship at Grace Baptist Church is a privilege for which I am continually grateful. God has blessed our people with abundant giftedness, and it is my passion to provide ways for them to use their gifts to glorify God through worship. I believe worship is for God’s glory and pleasure, and I believe what pleases Him best is to see His children ministering to one another and to the lost. I want our worship at Grace to minister by communicating scriptural truth in a way that reaches the heart as well as the mind. Some of my interests include camping, hiking, bike riding, and working out. I love the beach; I particularly like to walk along the beach at sunset and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. I enjoy watching sports– particularly college football, NBA basketball, and World Cup soccer. I try to cultivate a broad knowledge of culture through reading books, listening to music, and watching movies. My favorite pastime is spending time with my wife Julie, and my daughters Camryn and Kyra.

I love Pastoring at Grace Baptist Church, it is a genuine community of faith where people love each other and are committed to life on life ministry. I want to see our Great God glorified as we as a Church develop genuine relationships. I am passionate about seeing people come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and then grow in their relationship with Him. I want people to know the Bible. I want to handle God’s Word skillfully, teach it carefully, preach expositionally, and use it to counsel effectively. My greatest joy in life is spending time with my wife and four daughters. I love sports, the outdoors, good music, and a good adventure movie. I am always open for a good conversation over a cup of coffee or a competitive game of golf.I have served as Youth Pastor, Assistant Pastor, Church Planter, and Senior Pastor in ministries in Michigan, Florida, and North Carolina since 1993. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, a Master of Ministry , and a Master of Divinity degrees, and have a Doctor of Ministry degree in progress.
